Design and create characters for Valve’s cutting edge interactive video games incorporating highly sophisticated 3D graphic elements for our customers. Develop characters from the initial concept stages to the final 3D modeled, textured, rigged and animated asset for our games. Create concept and texture art that are consistent with artistic vision defined, taking into account gameplay environment and characters. Create visual effects that enhance the narrative, immersion, and aesthetic concepts of the games. Develop new workflows to improve capacity of other artists in authoring textures necessary for backgrounds and scenery elements that drive the story. Model AAA-quality environments and characters in 3D. Paint high quality texture and artwork for 3D and 2D environments for in-game models and externally printed promotions. Design and paint interactive UI elements for games. Code in XML and CSS to create interactive user experiences. Manage our community of art contributors who submit their work for review and possible inclusion in our games.
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Environmental Design, Game Art, Multimedia Design or a directly related field, or the foreign degree equivalent and 2 years of experience creating and animating 3D characters. Experience must also include:
- 2 years of experience developing character creation workflows
- 2 years of experience performing character texture, modeling and animation
- 2 years of experience prototyping animation behaviors
- 2 years of experience using Maya, Zbrush, 3DCoat, Marmoset Toolbag, Unity, Photoshop and Xnormal
Must have also created video game characters used in a AAA video game.
Experience may be gained concurrently.
